Russia: Almost 80,000 evacuated from Syria's Eastern Ghouta via humanitarian corridors – MoD

Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu said that that 79,655 people were evacuated from Eastern Ghouta through humanitarian corridors in the last five days, at a press briefing in Moscow on Tuesday.

 

Shoigu stressed that thanks to "a unique and unprecedented humanitarian operation, led by the Russian Centre for the Reconciliation of Opposing Sides" in Eastern Ghouta, "over the last five days 79,655 people have left Eastern Ghouta through the humanitarian corridors." He went on to say that "over 65 percent of the territory of Eastern Ghouta has been liberated."
