"The victory of October 1 must stay alive in our heads and hearts," said former Catalan leader Carles Puigdemont on the one-year-anniversary of the independence referendum, speaking from Brussels on Monday.
"Years will go by, governments will come and go and kings as well, but the memory of the Catalan people will remain intact," Puigdemont said.
He concluded by urging the Catalan people not to stray from the cause of independence.
